OUR HISTORY

 Our Roots:

Bethany’s founding church was the Plymouth Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church, located about five miles west of Mauston on Johnson road.
Today all that remains on the site of the original church building is the steeple.  It is now a landmark that indicates the entrance to the Plymouth Cemetery.

Windows:

Other treasured pieces of Bethany’s roots can be found in our stained glass windows.  The stained glass windows from the Plymouth Church were saved and kept in storage after the building was dismantled in the early 1960’s.  The medallions (colored symbols) and some of the
amber glass were then incorporated into the stained glass windows of our current building in 1998.

The Bell:

In 1968 the original bell was moved from the Plymouth congregation to Bethany.  This bell continues to be in use at Bethany today.
