Bethany Lutheran Church has a variety of ministries to help fulfill our baptismal promises to our children.
Bethany Lutheran Church supports and encourages Bible camping ministry by providing camp scholarships to our members who attend Sugar Creek Bible Camp in Ferryville, WI.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
This year’s VBS is called Compassion Camp and includes these important themes: Compassion helps us see and welcome; Compassion helps us be brave; Compassion helps us love ourselves; Compassion helps us be present with each other; and Compassion gives us a fresh start
VBS for Summer 2020 will happen over a course of five Wednesdays (July 29, August 5, 12, 19, 26). Each week you will receive a link to the Bible Story, Craft, Game, Snack, and Song options. Do one. Do them all. The choice is yours! You will receive a bag with all the supplies you’ll need before the program begins. This year, Bethany is preparing a program for every household to enjoy! In other words, we are hoping that every generation can find something meaningful in our program, and we hope people of all ages will participate. We hope that families will share the experience together. There is also a church-wide art project that is part of the program. Each household will have one part to work on. We won’t see the whole picture until all the pieces come together after the program is completed! To sign up, contact Pastor Gloria by phone (608-712-3510) or e-mail her the names and ages of household members who will be participating.
Stay tuned for information about upcoming first communion classes.
Bring the kids for some fun while learning about Bible stories and singing songs about Jesus.
Bethany Lutheran of Mauston offers Sunday School for children 3 yrs of age through sixth grade from October through April.
Sunday school hours: 8:15AM until 9:15 AM.
Confirmation is the time when young people embrace being disciples of Jesus Christ. They assume personal responsibility for their journey of discipleship-in relationship with the whole congregation who are on the same path. They learn to:
- pray with and be present and available for others in the faith community
- give of their time, energy, talents and resources to participate in it’s holy work
- and serve within and beyond the congregation.
Goals of Confirmation are to allow students to explore their faith and the faith of the congregation, and to allow students to explore ways to live their faith in their everyday lives. Our lessons are from the Living Lutheran module of the Collaborate Confirmation series created by Sparkhouse, a division of the ELCA’s Augsburg Publishing. Confirmation is held on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:00 PM for students in seventh and eighth grade. Classes have begun for this year. Contact the church office or Dick Pirwitz for more information.
